Community Champion of 2008
Hunslet Festival is delighted to recognise her efforts and commitment by naming Sandra Askin their Community Champion for 2008.
Sandra, nominated by her daughter Sara France for the award, has been involved in lots of activities to help and support her community. She has been a childminder for families in her local area and has been a loving and caring foster parent for over 20 years. She has worked tirelessly as an organiser and fundraiser for Middleton Mums and Tots, for cancer charities and for Wakefield Hospice. She is a caretaker for the Maude Hall in Middleton and helps with her church coffee mornings on a regular basis.
The award was presented at a special VIP night at MECCA Bingo in Hunslet, who are one of the sponsors of Hunslet Festival & Gala.
